  2. Objective of the Bachelor’s Program in Civil Engineering Training of construction/designing practitioners with strong basic engineering education

  3. Curriculum 4 Units I Mathematics and Natural Sciences – no less than 20% of the total program II II.1 Basic engineering courses (common) – no less than 25% of the total program II.2 Specialmajor courses (common) _no less than 5% of the total program

  4. Curriculum 4 Units III. III.1 Special major courses (special level) _ no less than 15% of the total program III.2 Basic engineering study courses (special level) _ no less than 25% of the total program Module: Civic buildings and Structures

Curriculum 4 Units Module: Transport structures Module: Hydraulic structures III.3 Professional practice – no less than 5% of the total program III.4 Final project _ no less than 5% of the total program IV IV.1 Study courses in humanities and social sciences – no more than 10% of the total program

  6. Curriculum 4 Units Requirements: _ from the 1st to the 5th term (inclusive) – general education program for all the three modules _ The minimum scope of the study course _ 3 E.C. _ Optional study courses– only in Unit 3.

  7. One of the basis for selection of general and specific competences is the results of the survey conducted from May 6 till June 1, 2008. During the Survey 60 respondents were questioned and was filled 150 general and 150 field specific questionnaires. (Altogether 300). 30 respondents were graduates, 31 - academic staff, 56 - students and 33 - employers.

  8. Specific Competences • An ability to apply the knowledge acquired in the courses of mathematics, sciences and basic engineering; • An ability to estimate/design structural systems and their components; • An ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools, including IT, necessary for engineering practice; • An ability to identify, formulate and solve complex civil engineering problems;

Specific Competences • An understanding of the interactionbetween technical and ability to design and construct environmentally friendly civil engineering works; • An ability to design and conduct experiments, field and laboratory activities as well as to analyze and interpret the data; • An understanding of professional and ethical responsibilityy of civil engineers; • An ability to use knowledge in subjects relevant to civil engineering; • An ability to read and comprehend the professional material in a foreign language.

  10. General/Transfer Competences • Ability of analysis and synthesis; • Decision-making ability; • Time planning and organization skills; • Communication skills; • Teamwork skills; • Ability to work independently.
