  30. The benefits of CAS • The 8 learning outcomes • Creates ‘ a well-balanced student’ • Allows them to go out of their comfort-zone & grow • Can help greatly with other parts of the Diploma • Become better Global Citizens • Improved organisation, communication& leadership skills • They ‘stand-out’ for colleges/universities/future employers

  31. CAS Report • ‘More and more, a good performance in CAS is becoming a vital part of university admissions…’ • ‘In the US and UK, it can actually enhance or damage the student’s chances because it makes the difference between merely an excellent student & an excellent student with evidence of a well-rounded personality, international-mindedness and concern for others…’

  32. CAS Report • Many schools ask coordinators to provide a full CAS report for each student at the time of predicted grades submission or university (UCAS in particular!) • All or some of it then becomes part of the application process…

  33. How can you support your child with CAS? • ‘CAS’ at the dinner table • Show interest in what they are doing • Encourage and praise - don’t lecture! • Have a look at their CAS Handbook • ‘Walk the talk’
