  2. Worship • 1. shachah – (shaw-KHAW`) – The Hebrew word most often used in the Old Testament. It literally means “to fall flat in the dust,” the act of the lowest slave. • 2. proskuneo – proskunew– (pros-koo-NAY`-oh) – The Greek word most often used in the New Testament. It literally means “to kiss the hand,” the act of a dog greeting its master.

  3. Praise • 1. halal–(haw-LAL`) – The Hebrew word used most often in the Old Testament. It means “to shine out brightly,” meaning to be clear, bright, loud. • 2. epainos– (EP`-ahyee-nos) – The Greek word used most often in the New Testament. It means in its most literal, fullest sense “to take this time, right here, right now, to tell a story that honors God.”
