  19. Quiz Day #4 (2 Points Each) • What is Eschatology • What does a pre-tribulational rapture mean? • Matthew 24 lays out the history of what period of God’s History? • From what passage of Scripture do we get the word Rapture: • Share something you learned from Dr. Kevin Bauder’s Message • Have you read your notes for Day 4? • Have you read Chapter 8 in Dr. Ryrie’s book • Extra Credit: I have read chapters 2-7 in Dr. Ryrie’s book?

  20. Issues of Imminency • Dr. Stallard presents an argument for imminency that puts little to no weight upon the Matthew 24 passage that many pre-tribulationalists hang their hat upon. This is good because Matthew 24 is a Tribulational passage urging tribulational believers (more specifically Jewish believers) to be ready for their coming king. • I would suggest that John 14 also makes a case for an imminent return with the wedding language employed. • The current cultural landscape also makes for a compelling argument for imminency • Question…Was the rapture imminent at the time of Paul?

  21. Are Believer’s called to wrath? • 1 Thessalonians 1:10 (NKJV) • 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. • 1 Thessalonians 2:19 (NKJV) • 19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? • 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 (NKJV) • 9For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. • 11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. • Revelation 6:16-17—The Time of the Tribulation is known as the day of God’s wrath, something we have not been appointed to as believers!

  25. The Seal Judgments • Seal #1—The White Horse – The anti-christ’s political campaigns • Daniel 9:26-27, 1 Thess. 5:1-3 • Seal #2—The Red Horse – The anti-christ’s military campaigns • Daniel 9:26; Matthew 24:4-17 • Seal #3—The Black Horse-Famine • Seal #4-The Pale (light green) horse- quarter of world population destroyed by famine, war, disease and beasts • Mt. 24:7 • Seal #5-The Cry of the Martyrs • Seal #6-Cosmic Disturbances-Topography of the globe changed

  26. The Conclusion of the Tribulation Period • Matthew 25 • Parable of the 10 Virgins (1-13) and parable of the 10 talents (14-30) • Jews in the tribulation who either are or are not prepared for the 2nd advent of Christ. Believing Jews enter Millennium and unbelieving Jews enter damnation. • Son of Man’s judgment of the nations/gentiles (31-46 • The gentiles are now judged much like the Jews and they will be separated (sheep and goat judgment) and believing gentiles enter Millennium and unbelieving gentiles enter damnation.

  27. Rapture vs 2nd Coming PassagesTwo Phase Return of Christ

  28. Introduction to the Millennium • See page 33 in notes • Amillennialism • There is no such thing as a millennial earthly kingdom. When Christ returns, the redeemed will enter the eternal state. Christ is ruling and reigning from heaven even now. • Postmillennialism including Dominion Theology • Christ will return to earth after the millennial kingdom on earth. The Church will bring in the kingdom before the return of the Messiah. The world is getting better mon! • Premillennialism • Christ is coming back to earth to establish the millennial kingdom, a literal 1,000 year, earthly kingdom which will be followed by the eternal state. • Historic Premillennialism typically embraces post-tribulationalism • Dispensational Premillennialism typically embrace pre-tribulationalism

  29. Jesus, The Coming King, Will Keep His Promises Isaiah 9:6, 7; Revelation 19:11-20:6 • To Abraham (Genesis 12) • To David (2 Samuel 7:5-16; Isaiah 9:6, 7; 11:1-3) • To Israel (Jeremiah 30:1-11) • To All Believers (Acts 1:9-11)

  30. Millennium Passages for study • Revelation 20 • Satan is bound (unlike our current age where he roams about like a roaring lion-1 Peter 5:8) • Christ rules along with other previous resurrected believers (Luke 22:29-30, 1 Corinthians 6:2, also consider Dan. 7:22). • Also the believing dead of the tribulation are resurrected to rule with Him! This is not the first as in the first and only resurrection, but it is the “first” as in before. • 1 Cor. 15:23 (Jesus), 1 Thess. 4:13-18 (Church Age Believers), Rev. 11:3, 11 (2 Witnesses), Rev. 20:5 (Tribulation Maryrs), Daniel 12:1-2 (OT Saints) • Allussions to Millennium • Ephesians 1:10 • Romans 8:18-23

  31. OT Millennium Passages for study • Ezekiel 36-37 • Ezekiel 40-48 • Jeremiah 30-33 • Isaiah 2 • Isaiah 11 • Joel 2

  32. Extra Information—This is Free! • The battle described in Revelation 20:7ff is not the same battle referred to in Ezekiel 38-39. • The question has been raised as to whether this war is the same one discussed in Ezekiel 38-39, where Gog and Magog are also mentioned (Ezek. 38:2). These are two different battles, for in the war of Ezekiel 38-39 the armies come primarily from the north and involve only a few nations of the earth. But the battle in Revelation 20:7-9 will involve all nations, so armies will come from all directions. • Furthermore nothing in the context of Ezekiel 38-39 is similar to the battle in Revelation, as there is no mention of Satan or of millennial conditions. In Revelation 20:7 the context clearly places the battle at the end of the Millennium, whereas the Ezekiel battle takes place in connection with end-time events.

  35. Quiz for Monday • 3 Tenets of Dispensationalism • 1 Thing I learned from Dr. Kevin Bauder’s Message • What is Daniel’s 70th week? • What action begins the tribulation period? • Put in correct order the following: • Innocense, Conscience, Government, Patriarchal/Promise, Law, Grace, Rapture, Tribulation Period, 2nd Advent, Millennium • I have read chapters 2-8 in Dr. Ryrie’s text book
