About Grading • Grading Policies • 3 Exams, 150 points each • Comprehensive Final Exam, 200 points total • No Make Up Exams • You may replace one exam grade with your percentage score on the comprehensive final exam multiplied by 150 points • Contact Mr. Griffin in advance of class if you cannot attend on a test day or a day a project is due • 3 Take-Home Projects, 50 points each, 150 points total

About Grading • Grading Policies • Hawkes Learning Systems Homework, 100 points total • Your grade for the semester will be based on a total of 900 possible points (450 points from the three exams, 200 points from the final exam, 150 points from the take-home projects, and 100 points from the Hawkes homework). Divide the total number of points you earn during the semester by 900 to determine your percentage grade for the semester. • The standard grading scale will apply • 90%-100% is an A, 80%-90% is a B, etc.

  8. Time Limits for Exams • Students will have 1 hour 50 minutes to complete in-class exams and 1 hour 50 minutes to complete the final exam. • When time for an exam is exhausted, the instructor will announce that students have 5 minutes to finish and turn in the exam. • The exam MUST be turned in by the end of the 5-minute time-frame. Otherwise, the instructor will not accept the exam, and a grade of zero will be issued for the exam.

  9. Cell Phone Policies • Cell phones must be turned off or silenced and stored throughout class and during exams (unless you have permission from the instructor to use your phone for a class-related purpose) • If you need to use your phone during class, please leave the classroom. You may return after the completion of your conversation, as long as disruptions are kept to a minimum • Use of cameras, including cell phone cameras, and other audio or video recording devices during class is prohibited without prior permission from the instructor

Notes about Elementary Statistics • Be prepared to use technology • Excel, Minitab, PowerPoint, Internet sites, Hawkes Learning Systems and other technology-related resources may be required to complete assignments both in class and outside of class • Formulas, Formulas, Formulas • Word Problems, Word Problems, Word Problems • The problems are more detailed (i.e., involve more steps) than algebra problems

  11. Notes about Elementary Statistics • You may NOT share technological resources (computers, calculators, etc.) during in-class graded assignments. Sharing resources during graded assignments will be considered cheating. • The instructor will not loan calculators for use on graded assignments.

  12. Your first assignment: After the syllabus and homework assignment list are posted online for the semester: For 5 bonus points: Send Mr. Griffin an email verifying that you reviewed and understand the syllabus, including the grading policies and the time limits for exams, and that you printed yourself a copy of the homework exercises for the semester.
