Perseus • Lineage- Danae was his mother and his Father was Zeus. He also had a wife named Andromeda. • Symbol- symbolizes servitude when he Slays Medusa for Polydectes • Powers- Possesses supernatural strength and agility, God of war. • Identification or description- Strong, Handsome man. • Important events- Slaying of Meduesa. • Allusions- In the film “Percy Jackson” Percy shows and is very similar to Perseus.
Hermes • Lineage-Zeus was his father and his mother was Maia. • Symbol- Hermes symbolizes servitude when he Slays Medusa for • Powers- Cunning, Charming, strong and athletic, He can control monsters with his flute or lyre music. • Weaknesses- No major weaknesses • Identification or description- Messenger of gods, • Important events- Helps Perseus on his journey to kill Medusa • Allusions- Because Hermes is the Messenger of gods he is like a delivery service.
The Gorgons • Lineage- Phocis: Father, The Graie- Sisters • Symbol: symbolize control because they controlled whether Perseus was killed or not. • Powers- When people look at them they get turned into stone. • Weaknesses- two sisters are immortal and Meduesa was mortal. • Identification or description- Monsters with snakes as hair, very unattractive • Important events- When Medusa was slayed by Perseus. • Allusions- the movie Clash of the Titans, The group arrives at the lair of the Stygian Witches where Meduesa is once again slayed.
The Graie Sisters • Lineage- Their parents were Phorcys and Ceto, and The Gorgons were their sisters. • Symbol- They symbolize assistance when they help Perseus find out where the gorgons lived. • Powers- they were Immortal And their eye had magical powers. • Weaknesses- They often fought over the one eye and tooth and when they switched they couldn't see. • Identification or description- Only had one eye and one tooth to share in-between them • Important events- Perseus stole their one eye to help find the Gorgons. • Allusions-
The Fates • Lineage- Zeus and Themis were their parents. All three were sisters. • Symbol- They symbolize control because they control the lives and destiny's of people. • Powers- Controls life and death • Weaknesses- No known Weaknesses • Identification or description- They controlled the metaphorical thread of life of every mortal from life to death. • Important events- assigned each man to his destiny, Killing of the great God Admetus • Allusions-Macbeth is a Shakespearean play about a Scottish general who becomes king of Scotland. When he hears a prophecy from three witches who tell him that he will become king, he commits murder to gain the throne. The witches are just like the Fates.
