  2. Course Objectives • Describe the Pharmacy-Automated Dispensing Interface System (BOP) • Menu Options • Interaction between options • Proper set up • Identify common pharmacy issues in EHR

  3. Overview • BOP • Bi-directional transmission of patient data between RPMS and an automated medication dispensing machine (ADM) system, e.g. Pyxis, Omnicell. • Impacts all disciplines • Providers • Nurses • Pharmacy

  4. Functionality • Data in the BOP QUEUE file is placed into HL7 messages. • The network administrator determines the TCP/IP addresses, an IP address for each ADM System device, and an IP address for each RPMS IHS facility.

  5. Functionality • Map Automated Dispensing System to RPMS drug file via Internal Entry Numbers of each drug (IENs) • Monitors itself and reliably keeps itself running. • Transmits ADT info to the ADM system real-time. • Transmits patient orders to the ADM system real-time.
