Chart of Accounts Development • Jan/Feb 2006 – Business Affairs and Budget teams ask administrators for reporting needs, both current and future. • March 2006 – Email to Banner Finance subscribers list requesting end user reporting or process input. • May/June 2006 – Core Finance team attends Banner Chart of Accounts training. • Jul/Oct 2006 – Chart of Accounts team develops first draft of Chart of Accounts.

Chart of Accounts Development • Oct 2006 – COA team presents proposed COA to representatives from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, Pharmacy and Graduate School with break out sessions to discuss issues, concerns and requests feedback from attendees for departmental organization and reporting needs.

  5. Chart of Accounts Development • Nov 2006 – COA team presents Chart of Accounts to the School of Medicine’s Administrators Group meeting. The team asks for input and suggestions. • Jan 2007 – COA team presents Chart of Accounts at the Finance and Administrator’s Quarterly Update meeting and asks for input and suggestions.

  6. Chart of Accounts Development • Feb 2007 – COA team travels to Regional Centers and presents Chart of Accounts followed by discussion of reporting and organizational needs. • Feb/Mar 2007 – First load of HSC proposed Chart of Accounts and initial testing of hierarchy and reporting roll-up. • Mar/April 2007 – Data entry and system assurance testing.

What is a Chart of Accounts? • Numerical elements that represent information that is similar to TechFIM account numbers, Object / Subobject Codes, Revenue Source / Subrevenue Source Codes and Balance Sheet Accounts. • Composed of six elements: Fund, Organization, Account, Program, Activity and Location (FOAPAL).
