These plots often consisted of exotic locales where a courageous hero and a beautiful damsel would fight against a sadistic villain over an ancient artifact. 3. Presented before the main feature films. B. During the golden age of cinema (1930s-1950s), newsreels and cartoons or serials were a staple of the theater. 1. Examples of serials include Tarzan, The Shadow, Dick Tracy, Flash Gordon, Batman, The Phantom, Captain America, Zorro, The Green Hornet
