Bicycle Injuries • Approximately 70 percent of children ride bicycles regularly. • About 15 to 25 percent of children who ride bicycles wear helmets. • About 700 children are injured every day in a bicycle-related accidents. • Each year, about 130 children are killed in bicycle-related accidents.

  3. Skateboarding and Skating Injuries • Every year, children sustain approximately 38,000 injuries related to roller skating or inline skating. • Children sustain approximately 61,000 injuries involving skateboards every year.

  4. How to Prevent Injuries • Wear a helmet that fits properly. Every time.Helmets reduce the risk of head injury by 85 percent and severe brain injury by 88 percent. • Wear knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards when skateboarding and inline skating. • Keep your equipment in good working order.
