Reading You will read a variety of texts: • Literature - Short Stories, Poetry, Legends • Math – Informational & Expository Texts • Social Studies - Historical Nonfiction and Expository Texts
Reading Strategies To improve your reading skills: • Ask questions • Draw conclusions • Analyze author’s purpose • Recognize symbols • Make inferences • Visualize • Distinguish fact from opinion
Grammar We will practice: • Conjunctions • Conjunctions in compound sentences • Complex sentences • Compound-complex sentences • Prepositional phrases • Appositives • Indefinite pronouns • Declarative, imperative, declarative, and interrogative sentences
