These mushrooms are mainly grown on oak, but they can also be found growing on ironwood, poplars, sugar maple, yellow birch, and alder. Qualitative Approach . . . As soon as you get your mushroom logs, you should soak them in water so that they remain submerged. Sprinkle water regularly until you see pins developing. As soon as you see the pins, you should take off the covers. If the pins start showing signs of dryness, then you can apply mist or soak them for half an hour.
The Phase Of Harvesting . . . Within ten days, the mushrooms should have become flat while still retaining their concave shape. The ideal way of removing fungi is twisting the base. Avoid them if they become too mature because then they will tend to sporulate. In such cases, though, the mushrooms will be edible but will not be too tasty.
