  1. The Building Blocks of geometry Points, Lines, and Planes

  2. The Spiral Galaxy in the constellation Andromeda Just as a galaxy is made up of stars, a geometric figure is made up of points. Geometric figures such as points, lines, and planes can be used to make mathematical models of physical objects. The models can be used to solve real world problems. geology.com/.../spiral-galaxy.jpg

  3. Below is the image at: www.usfreeads.com/1498732-cls.html Points Points: When you look at the night sky and see the stars, the tiny dots of light look like points. Points are often shown as dots, but unlike physical dots, geometric dots have no size. Points are named by capital letters.

  4. Lines Lines: A geometric line has no thickness, is perfectly straight, and extends forever. A line can be named by two points on the line, a double –headed arrow over the two letters, or by a single lowercase letter.

  5. Planes Planes: A geometric plane extends indefinitely in all directions along a flat surface. You can think of any flat surface, such as a table top or the front of a book, as representing a portion of a plane. Planes are named by three capital letters or one large cursive letter.

  6. Zodiac Signs • Find your Zodiac Sign and make a poster showing the points and line that make up the sign in the stars. • Be creative • and make sure your name is in the design.

  7. Everyday Geometry: Points and Lines make Zodiac Signs and other Cool Stuff. We are going to begin a project to see who can find the most geometric symbols in everyday life. It is up to you and your group to decide where you will look and how you will find them. You can choose a subject you are interested in: sports, cars, fashion, music, anything you would like to research. Take pictures of everyday objects in that area and present them in a technology project showing the geometric form.
