2012 Wellness Program Presented by Wellness Committee
The Wellness Committee • We set out to demonstrate and bust urban legends • Sometimes we do crazy stunts • It’s all for the health of Wood County employees
MYTH 1 Wood County has a comprehensive wellness program, but is it only for gym buffs and people who like to see how far they can walk?
The Myth • Last winter, 174 employees walked to Myrtle Beach and decided to stay for a month • You must go to the gym every day to participate in Wood County wellness programs CONFIRMED OR BUSTED?
FACTS: Wellness Program • Activities available for ALL employees • Designed to improve and maintain health • Encourages healthy habits and lifestyles • Includes rewards • Quarterly cash incentives (for benefits eligible) • Program incentives & prizes • Incorporates education and healthy tips • Creates healthier workplaces
MYTH 2 Our Wood County Wellness Coordinator – Tara Marciniak – has resigned, so will our wellness program end?
The Myth • Tara took the 2012 wellness program with her to ensure her family stays healthy • Renee Fox, our new Wellness Coordinator, is too busy encouraging us to Get Active to create a new plan • We’ll continue to follow the 2011 plan CONFIRMED OR BUSTED?

MYTH 3 The Health Risk Assessment (HRA) with biometric screening is a tool for evaluating level of health and identifying potential risks, but is it really FREE for Wood County employees?
The Myth • Biometric screenings are FREE for all benefit eligible employees – even those who opt out of insurance • Screenings include fasting full lipid panel and glucose, blood pressure screening, and height/weight • Identifying your potential health risks is an important step toward achieving and maintaining good health • After the HRA, employees can also receive a FREE Influenza Vaccination • Average fee per vaccine ranges $20 to $30 CONFIRMED OR BUSTED?
MYTH 4 I will receive a personalized HRA report, but who else are my results shared with? Do my results go to my manager, Human Resources and/or other Wood County employees?
The Myth • Your personal results will only be seen by you and Aspirus Occupational Health staff • We 100% guarantee your co-workers, managers , HR, and administrators will NOT see your individual information • Your privacy is under protection by HIPPA • Wood County only receives group data (with no employee info) to help guide the wellness program CONFIRMED OR BUSTED?
MYTH 5 It has been confirmed that HRAs provide beneficial health information for employees, but will I also earn a $100 cash incentive for participating?
The Myth • Employees can earn $100 by completing the HRA, setting goals with a health coach, and receiving an Influenza vaccination (or other activity – see 2012 Wellness Outline) • Wood County encourages you to participate in these three steps and wants you to take charge of your health • Completing the HRA and setting a health goal are also required steps for receiving additional quarterly cash incentives CONFIRMED OR BUSTED?
MYTH 6 I’ve decided to participate in the HRA, so how do I sign up?
The Myth • A member of the Wellness Committee (aka mythbuster), will perform the biometric screenings after this presentation • If you run from this opportunity and want to schedule an appointment with Aspirus Occupational Health, alert Renee Fox via smoke signal or telegram CONFIRMED OR BUSTED?
