  3. Graduation Requirements. Resources: • Catalog of Approved High School Courses • Credit Check Sheet • Four Year Plan • School Counselors

  4. HSA Testing • Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, all students enrolled in the Government course, American Government or Government and Politics AP, will take the Government HSA. • Administration in the 2012-2013 school year will serve as a formative assessment for schools to get ready for the test as a graduation requirement. • The entering 9th grade students in the 2013-2014 school year will be required to pass or obtain 1602 combined score for the four tests.

  5. HSA Testing • If a student is absent during the 2012-2013 testing they will have to make up the test. • A student will not have to retake the test if they don’t achieve a passing score. • Entering grade 9 in 2012-2013 or before: May achieve a combined score of 1208- English, Biology, Algebra or combined score of 1602- English, Algebra, Biology, Government

  6. HSA Testing • Entering Grade 9 in 2013-2014 and beyond, must achieve a combined score of 1602 for English, Algebra, Biology, Government. Passing Scores: • Algebra - 412 • Biology - 400 • English - 396 • Government - 394

  7. Career Academies and STEMSuggested Grade Levels: 9-10 Presenters: Caren Hoffman, Greg Strimel, & Cara Moulds This session will cover information on the Career Academies, at ARL and MRHS; including when you should sign up and start them. Our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs, offered at MRHS, will be discussed.

  8. Honors, GT, AP Course PlacementSuggested Grade Levels: 9-10 Presenters: Paul Eckert, Liz Crawford& Renard Parson This session will cover information on correct level placement, and how to move students up or down levels appropriately. What is the work load really like?

  9. Admissions TestsSuggested grade levels: 9-11 Presenter: Margie Ford PSAT/SAT/ACT/Subject Tests? This session will provide an overview of the admissions testing system, outlining the differences between the various tests as well as when students should be taking those tests. Specific resources/programs offered to students will be reviewed.

  10. Resources for College &Career SearchesSuggested Grade Levels: 10-11 Presenters: Linda Won & Will Schwarz This session will cover what resources are available for college and career searches. The main resource covered will be Family Connections. This is a free resource, offered to all MRHS students, and at this time, heavily used in the college application process.

  11. How to Navigate the Social SceneSuggested Grade Levels: 9-10 Presenters: Kim Burke & Tara Ebersole We will discuss how to get involved in extracurricular activities. We will also discuss how to deal with bullying /harassment at MRHS, including cyber bullying and school policies related to these topics.

  12. General Questions Presenter: Will Schwarz This final session is offered in the auditorium, to give parents an opportunity to ask questions and/or receive clarification on information shared this evening.

  13. Evaluation Forms After each session, please complete the workshop section. After completing the final evaluation please leave the form on the table outside the auditorium. Your feedback will help us to improve future programs
