  1. Microsoft Campus Agreement (Licensing for Microsoft Office and OS products)

  2. Why License Students? • Student laptop and tablet programs are on the rise. • Supporting student licensing initiatives offers lower cost software solutions: • Increasing the accessibility of software for learning. • Improving the adoption of technology in the classroom. • Encouraging parental investment in academic technology initiatives. • Cost recovery model for K-12 and higher education organizations. • Can be an incentive for the student to graduate (in some instances they get to keep the software). • Encourage student compliancy. • Support student enrollment initiatives: • Student licensing programs can market progressive learning environments to the local community and to prospective learners.

  3. What are the student options? • K-12 • School Agreement Student Option: • http://www.microsoft.com/Education/SA3StudentOption.aspx • Higher Education • Campus Agreement Student Option • http://www.microsoft.com/Education/CAStudentOption.aspx • Student Select • http://www.microsoft.com/Education/StudentSelect.aspx

  4. The Annuity Models • School Agreement Student Option • Created for the K-12 community. • Campus Agreement Student Option • Designed for higher education organizations. • How Student Annuity Licensing Works • Signing the Master Agreement • Adding on the Student Option • Distributing Media • Distributing Licenses • Graduation Considerations

  5. The School Agreement Student Option • Minimum Order Requirements • The Student Option can be added to any School Agreement order for faculty/staff and/or server products that meets the 300 unit minimum requirement. • Student Use Rights • These licenses are non-perpetual. Upon graduation the student must remove the license. • The Buy-Out Option • The institution may convert non-perpetual student licenses to perpetual licenses via the Buy-out option as an alternative to removing the software.

  6. Campus Agreement Student Option • Calculating FTE • Full-time students + Part-time students divided by 3 = Total student FTE count • Departmental Student Option • If you have a faculty/staff subscription for an individual department and you want to include the Student Option, you must license 100% of the students in that department. • Minimum Order Requirements • The Student Option can be added to any Campus Agreement order for faculty/staff and/or server products that meets the 300 unit minimum requirement. You cannot order Campus Agreement coverage for students only. • Perpetual Use Rights • Upon graduation, students licensed under the Student Option are granted perpetual use rights for the selected Campus Agreement products.

  7. Campus Agreement Student Option Continued… • Distributing Student License Confirmation • You will be responsible for ensuring that graduating students with perpetual use rights receive a student license confirmation (available online). • Hard Copy Distribution • Electronic Distribution • Student License Buy-Out • For non-graduating students, your institution may convert non-perpetual student licenses to perpetual licenses (a license the student owns) via the Buy-out option as an alternative to removing the software.

  8. Software Available Through Annuity Programs

  9. The Perpetual Model • Student Select • Available exclusively in the higher education community. • How to Participate • If you are an Academic Select 6.x customer in higher education, you can participate by starting a special Student Select Enrollment under your Academic Select 6.x Master Agreement. • Downgrade Rights • Student Select licenses include the right to run a downgrade of the product. For instance, a student that acquires a license for Office Professional 2003 may instead run Office XP Professional. For this purpose, CDs can be ordered for the most current version or the previous version of the software.

  10. Student Select Continued…. • Distributing the Software • Student CDs are ordered from your LAR • Minimum Requirements • You are required to reach 750 total points for Student Select purchases for all product pools. • Example: • 300 Office Professional Edition 2003 licenses x 2 points per unit = 600 points for Applications pool
