Family Freedom Check-up • How much is God a priority in your family? Can your family tell it by your actions or do you constantly have to convince them by your words? • Is your family a priority? How much time do you spend with them? How much attention do you give to every member of the family? How much do you invest in them? SHOW ME THE MONEY! • Do you have any genuine relationships with the same-sex outside of your family to whom you are accountable to? • How safe (physical, emotional, and otherwise) do your family and friends feel with you? • Do constant challenges in your family and friend’s lives annoy you or motivate you?
The PURPOSE of this series is for each of us to move closer to God by moving closer in relationship with the people in our lives – our family, church, friends, neighbors, etc. Through this purposeful connectivity, we will all experience greater freedom in our families – home, church, business, friends, etc. and therefore, be better for God and better for our families.
Everything about Christianity is set-up on the basis of RELATIONSHIP – not religion!
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6 NKJV)
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (John 8:31-32 KJV)
There can never be FREEDOM without TRUTH and oftentimes the TRUTH we need to gain the FREEDOM that we’re missing is found in relationship with other people.
We can’t struggle alone and gain freedom that was designed to be experienced in relationship.
“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!” John 5:39 NLT
There’s someone in all of our lives who is ahead of us (bigger than us) in fulfilling dreams that are very similar to the ones we possess.
Then Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I do not know a man?" And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. "Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. "For with God nothing will be impossible." Then Mary said, "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:34-38 NKJV)
Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! "But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? "For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. "Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord." (Luke 1:39-45 NKJV)
And Mary said: "My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation. (Luke 1:46-50 NKJV) He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy, As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever." And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her house. (Luke 1:54-56 NKJV)
Keys for Building More Genuine, Deeper, and Lasting Relationships: • Refuse the fear that causes you to hide the truth that you’re not showing yet • Let people into the activities of your life • Suppress what you want and concentrate on what someone else may need • Invest time into someone else’s interest • Listen to someone else’s counsel & be willing to follow it • Contact them throughout the week • Pray for them by name everyday
There’s no unity without U and I! “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such UNITY in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-13 NLT
