  1. Apuntes 20-21 de mayo El futuro The Future Tense En 2030, yo seré el presidente de una compañía importante. In 2030, I will be the president of an important company. Mi esposa y yo tendremos dos hijos. Se llamarán Paula y Roberto. My wife and I will have two children. Their names will be Paula and Roberto.

Most verbs form the future by adding the future endings to the infinitive form of the verb. hablarcomervivir yo hablaré comeré viviré tú hablarás comerás vivirás Ud., él/ella hablará comerá vivirá nosotros/as hablaremos comeremos viviremos vosotros/as hablaréis comeréis viviréis Uds., ellos/as hablarán comerán vivirán

  3. There are some verbs that have irregular future stems. The endings are the same as the regular verbs. infinitiveraíz (stem) formas futuras decir dir- diré, dirás, dirá, etc. hacer har- haré, harás, hará, etc. poder podr- podré, podrás, podrá, etc. poner pondr- pondré, pondrás, pondrá, etc. querer querr- querré, querrás, querrá, etc. saber sabr- sabré, sabrás, sabrá, etc. salir saldr- saldré, saldrás, saldrá, etc. tener tendr- tendré, tendrás, tendrá, etc. venir vendr- vendré, vendrás, vendrá, etc.

  5. Remember, that the construction ir a + infinitive is another way to express the future. It tends to be used most often to express events in the near future. Voy a escribir un ensayo mañana. I’m going to write an essay tomorrow. Dentro de quince años, escribiré una novela y todo el mundo la querrá leer. Within fifteen years, I’ll write a novel and everyone will want to read it.
