Islamic Calender Lunar Calendar The Islamic and Jewish weekdays begin at sunset, whereas the medieval Christian and planetary weekdays begin at the following midnight.
Islamic Calendar Muḥarram — المحرّم, "forbidden". Ṣafar — صفر, "void" —. Rabīʿ I (Rabīʿ al-Awwal) — ربيعالأوّل, "the first spring". Rabīʿ II (Rabīʿ ath-Thānīor Rabīʿ al-Ākhir) — ربيعالثاني or ربيعالآخر, "the second (or last) spring". Jumādā I (Jumādā al-Ūlā) — جمادىالأولى, "the first month of parched land". Jumādā II (Jumādā ath-Thāniyaor Jumādā al-Ākhira) — جمادىالثانية or جمادىالآخرة, "the second (or last) month of parched land".
Rajab — رجب, "respect" or "honor". Shaʿbān — شعبان, "scattered". Ramaḍān — رمضان, "scorched". Shawwāl — شوّال, "raised". Dhū al-Qiʿda — ذوالقعدة, "the one of truce". Dhū al-Ḥijja — ذوالحجّة, "the one of pilgrimage".
Chapter 2: Revelation 185 “The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quran; a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, a number of other days. Allah desires for you ease; He desires not hardship for you; and that you should complete the period, and that you should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that perhaps you may be thankful.) (Qu’ran, 2:185)
EidulFitr The end of Ramadan, the first day of shawwāl Prayer in the morning, food…. Lots of food, Must pay Zakat and Fitrbefore you attend the prayer Zakat: The Quran does not provide specific guidelines on which types of wealth are taxable under the zakat, nor does it specify percentages to be given. The amount of zakat to be paid on capital assets (e.g. money) is 2.5% (1/40). Fitr: It is religious tax/alms.
After morning prayers, Muslims generally congregate with relatives, friends, and acquaintances to celebrate the end of the holy month.
Eid-ulAdha Between Tenth Day of Dhū al-Ḥijja. Two features: Pilgrimage and Sacrifice When Ishmael was about 13 (Abraham being 99), Allah (God) decided to test their faith in public. Abraham had a recurring dream, in which God was commanding him to offer his son as a sacrifice. Abraham decided to fulfill God's command and offer Ishmael for sacrifice. Abraham presented the matter to Ishmael -- "Father, do what you have been commanded. You will find me, Insha'Allah (God willing), to be very patient."
Abraham lay down his son for sacrifice and Ishmael by lying patiently under the knife Allah called out to them stating that his sincere intentions had been accepted, and that he need not carry out the killing of Ishmael. Abraham was told to replace his son with a goat to sacrifice instead. The sacrifice an animal in memory
Pilgrimage The pilgrimage occurs from the 8th to 12th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, In 2011 --- 2.5 million pilgrims gathered in Makkah– 1.8 million from abroad and 700,000-800,000 from inside Saudi Arabia. Various rituals
