Mohandas Gandhi • Read “Mohandas Gandhi” from page #202 in your textbook. • In Note Section - Write down 5 facts that you can recall from the reading.
Gandhi’s Life • Gandhi used non-violent resistance which he called satyagraha to achieve his goal. • These ideas were rooted in Hindu beliefs and Christian traditions. • Gandhi preached simplicity and he tried to “convert the wrongdoer”. • Gandhi’s most famous protest was the Salt March in 1930.
Mohandas Gandhi • Was a Hindu and an Indian Nationalist. He was not a Hindu Nationalist.
Mohandas Gandhi • Believed in Equality among ALL Indian people. • Preached religious harmony among India’s Muslims and India’s Hindus. • Assassinated in January of 1948 by a Hindu fanatic.
