  2. Have you ever found yourself debating whether to buy organic food versus conventionally grown foods?

  3. What is organic? Organic foods are items that are produced, processed and packaged without using chemicals including items such as vegetables, fruit, milk, meat and cotton.

  4. Organic farming doesn’t mean that they go back to methods used hundreds of years ago.

  5. They take modern scientific knowledge and combine them with useful traditional farming methods.

  6. The key issues for concern are pesticide residues in and on food, agricultural practices that hurt the environment, and antibiotic use in animals. At the moment, there is no proof that organic foods are more nutritious than conventionally grown foods.

  7. Livestock Organic Farmers that raise Livestock do not believe in treating BSE or any antibotics.Therefore if their animal gets sick it either goes to butcher (which is contaminated meat) or they let it suffer and die .

  8. Organic farming is better for our environment. Organic farmers do not use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides

  9. So instead they adopt techniques to nourish crops and protect the soil which reduces groundwater pollution, uses less energy and less water.

  10. Organic farming isn’t just for vegetables, but animals as wellWhich can be a controversial subject.

  11. Organic farmers strive to maintain living conditions that accommodate natural behavior and health while limiting antibiotic use. However If their animal gets sick organic farmers do not believe in treatment and the animal often suffers and dies as a result

  12. Converting land to organic status is a three year process to meet standards set by the National Organic Program rules.

  13. Organic food tends to cost more than conventionally grown food because Organic farmers say it is more closely reflects the true cost of growing the food.

  14. Reading labels is important when deciding what to purchase.

  15. organic food is now easily available. You can buy directly from farmers, at farmers markets or organic sections of retail locations
