What is Management Co-op? • Co-op education is a unique program based on a three-way partnership between the University of Toronto, the student and the employer • Practical work placements alternate with study terms • Work placements begin in January, May or September for 4 or 8 month terms 2008 – How to get into Co-op

  5. Co-op Work Term Preparation Course • Summer session for all June internal admits • Geared towards second year admits • Begins the second/third week of June 2008 – How to get into Co-op

Admissions After 1st Year • Booklet distributed in late March by Registrar’s office details deadlines & instructions: Select your subject POSt • Deadlines are absolute • 2 rounds of admissions: • April 1st to May 4th - results available via ROSI in June, must accept by end of June • July 2nd to Aug. 10th- results available via ROSI in September – must accept by mid September 2008 – How to get into Co-op

Rules Regarding Applying • If you will have MORE THAN 10 credits at the end of April, then you will not be eligible for Co-op • If you have not completed at least 4.0 credits at UofT by the end of April, then you will not be eligible for Co-op • If you do not have 2 courses in each of ECM, MGT & MAT you will not be eligible • If you do not make your request via ROSI and/or you do not submit a résumé and cover letter, you will not be eligible for Co-op admission 2008 – How to get into Co-op

How are Applications Evaluated? • CGPA (varies each year) • 2004 June: 3.55 • 2005 June: 3.29 • 2006 June: 3.67 • 2007 June: 3.55 • Résumé and cover letter • If you are not admitted to BBA Co-op, you will be considered automatically for the Regular BBA program • Apply to only one BBA Co-op program 2008 – How to get into Co-op

  9. Résumé and Cover Letter • We look for: • Interest in the field of business (the more specific the better);Why interested? What experience has led to this? How does co-op fit in? • Volunteer experience • Work experience • Extra-curricular involvement • Academic awards • Highly relevant business-related experience/involvement • Leadership activities/roles • Flawless grammar and spelling • Advanced written communication skills • Evidence of personal contact/initiative 2008 – How to get into Co-op

Some Policies You Should Know About • Must end degree on a STUDY TERM (NO exceptions) • Must finish work terms before your 20 credits are done • You choose/change your sequence in consultation with the Co-op Director • You MUST be enrolled in courses to seek work • Work terms abroad – no more than 2 2008 – How to get into Co-op

Courses Required Before Work Terms • To Apply: 2 MGT, 2 ECM, 2 MAT • Before work term 1: • Work Term Preparation Course • MGTA03H & MGTA04H • ECMA04H & ECMA06H • 2 A level Maths • MGTB05H & MGTB06H • Must have at least 7.0 credits overall • Before work term 2: • MGTC36H 2008 – How to get into Co-op

  14. Management + Programs • Great way to focus on a specialized area • Still require high (same)CGPA and a résumé/cover letter to apply • Should have intro courses to other major • Management & IT – must have CSCA08 & CSCA48 in order to apply 2008 – How to get into Co-op

  15. Staying in Co-op: Academically • CGPA is assessed before each work term • 2.50 needed to seek work and graduate • 2.30-2.49=probation (job searching suspended) • Below 2.3=removal from BBA Co-op (2.0 for BBA) 2008 – How to get into Co-op
