  5. What is the lead center?

The National Center on Leadership for the Employment and Economic Advancement of People with Disabilities (LEAD) is a collaborative of disability, workforce and economic empowerment organizations led by National Disability Institute with funding from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, Grant No. #OD-23863-12-75-4-11.

  7. LEAD Center Mission To advance sustainable individual and systems- level change that results in improved, competitive integrated employment and economic self-sufficiency outcomes for individuals across the spectrum of disability.

  8. LEAD CENTER History and Priorities Established October 2012 as an initiative of National Disability Institute. Funded by the Dept. of Labor Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). Focus is on Employment, Economic Advancement and Leadership (Public Policy). Collaborates with Seven (7) national organizational partners. Nine (9) Subject Matter Experts. Sixteen (16) Knowledge-Transfer Dissemination Partners.

  9. CIL Pilot demonstration Framework Centers for Independent Living Play an Important Role in the Employment of People with Disabilities Through the Development of Partnerships with American Job Centers

What is an American job center? • American Job Centers (AJCs) is the new name for One-Stop Career Centers. • The new name was announced in June 2012. • AJCs are virtual and in-person publicly funded workforce development centers open to any job seekers. • Provides job search and other employment services in local and regional areas across the United States.

CIL DEMONSTRATION PROJECT • Collaborators: • NCIL • National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) • 5 CIL Pilot Sites • Eligibility for CILs to Participate: • Established Employment and Benefit Planning Expertise • Represent Geographic & Population Diversity • Have linkages with American Job Centers (AJCs) • Wiling to work with ten (10) Job Seekers with Disabilities to Assist Consumers through the Public Workforce System.

  12. CIL Demonstration goals & objectives Impact Public Policy by Involving CILs in the Public Workforce System. Develop Promising Best Practices to Produce a Replicable Model for other CILs to Utilize. Improve Employment Outcomes. Expand CIL Impact and Expertise to Create System Change. Improve AJC Service Delivery.
