  2. Cellular Respiration • Both requires and sends off energy: Aerobic and Anaerobic • 3 Phases • Glycolysis • Citric Acid cycle • Electron Transport Chain C6H12O6+6O2->6 CO2 +6H2O + Energy (ATP + Heat)

  3. Glycolysis • Is splitting Glucose (sugars) molecules into two Pyruvate molecules • Occurs in the Cytoplasm • Creates and requires ATP molecules • Can occur with or without oxygen Ex. When a human eats a pie the sugar molecules convert to glucose molecules that are then used as pyruvate molecules to prepare for the Citric Acid Cycle

  4. Glycolysis • Formula (C6H12O6) • Glucose 6 Carbons…….breaks into 2 sets of 3 Carbons which converts into pyruvate molecules • Uses 2 ATPs, 2NAD (H+) converts to 2NADH • http://www.khanacademy.org/science/biology/cellular-respiration/v/glycolysis

  7. Conclusion • Summary Cellular Respiration is a biological process that consumes energy in the form of Glucose and produces it as APT. The process consists of three steps: • Glycolysis • Citric Acid Cycle • Electron Transport Chain
