Addressing the need • Proportion over 65 is projected to increase from 12.4% in 2000 to 19.6% in 2030- 35 million to 71 million (U.S. Census Bureau 2011) • Lack of adequate numbers of health professionals represent major root causes of problems facing health care in Kentucky (Kentucky Institute of Medicine 2007) Life Science Academy Funded by OMHS and OCTC
