Knowledge of God. A right conception of God is basic not only to systematic theology but to practical Christian living as well. It is to worship what the foundation is to the temple; where it is inadequate or out of plumb the whole structure must sooner or later collapse.

  3. Genesis 17:1 1  When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, 2  that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.”

  4. Genesis 17:3-5 3  Then Abram fell on his face. And God said to him, 4  “Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations. 5  No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.

  14. Everlasting God / El Olam • Genesis 21:32-33 (ESV) 32  So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army rose up and returned to the land of the Philistines. 33  Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God.

  15. Conclusion God is… • El Shaddai, our Almighty • Pourer of blessings and bounty • Caregiver of our lives • El Elyon, the Most High • El Olam from everlasting to everlasting • Jesus is our El Shaddai, El Elyon, and El Olam
