Guide To Complete Surveillance Solutions Simplified Surveillance Systems www.ssr2.com/sss/ 262.643.7768
Why businesses and home owners consider surveillance? • Piece of mind • Ability to keep and eye on things that matter the most • Loss Prevention • Knowing what goes in and what leaves your premises • Crime Deterrent • Criminals are less likely to commence on camera • Prosecution • Video surveillance is responsible for a higher rate of prosecution of the bad guys
Types of surveillance systems that are available today • Most common type is digital video surveillance • Capable of • Supporting IP cameras • Pan/Tilt/Zoom Technology • Movement Detection • Email notification • Remote monitoring • (and) Online backup
Wired surveillance is most reliable • Wired (or mixed) solutions are better choice, because • Produce higher end product (video on file) • Costs less (to you and provider) • (but) require higher skill of the installer • Many surveillance outfits will try to sell/rent you an all wireless surveillance system, because • Easy to deploy • More capable out of the box (easier for them) • Costs more (to you)
Wireless surveillance is more scalable • Though in many cases wired is more reliable, wireless surveillance might be a requirement • Remote locations over 3K feet away from the recorder • Single channel traffic / license plate cameras • Observation posts in rural areas (lodges, cabins) • What makes wireless a good addition to an existing surveillance setupis the scalability of such devices • Note: Wireless camera systems, in many cases, can use solar power in order to work
Mix and Match • Choosing what works for you • Start with a strong foundation and that’s your wired infrastructure • Add wired and wireless features • Establish a fine tuning procedure to get the most out of the system that was built just for you and your unique needs • A truly qualified surveillance expert at Simplified will be able to help you mix and match features to give you a truly custom system just for your needs
DVR: Digital Video Recorder • Stores your video footage and event data • Comes with different configurations • 4, 8, 16, 32 and more channels • Hard drives from 500G to 4TB and endless CloudStorage • Remote login and local monitors • Exporting protocols • True HD video • Choosing the right one always starts with the amount of channels and how far back you wish to “rewind”
Cameras • Important part and perhaps the most • Angles? • Distance? • Vandal proofing? • Night vision? • Pan/Tilt/Zoom? • Confused by all the choices? • That’s why we are here….
Don’t forget the cabling • Cables are the connecting framework for any surveillance system • Types of cables • Cat 5e • Twin-B (see picture) • Tri-B • Connections • Cat 5e Cable requires so called BALUN adapter • Allows to broadcast up to 3000 feet
Cat 5e Cable goes a long way • Though you may have heard a lot about usage of Cat 6 cable, Cat 5e cable is more popular because it’s more economic • Cat 5e Cabling has been used in IP (some wireless) installations, but mainly used in a wired surveillance solution where greater distances are present • Twin-B and Tri-B cable is something our installers always have handy but it’s not suited for runs longer than a couple hundred feet
Monitoring and Recording • At some point you may have shopped around for surveillance by going out to gas stations, stores, etc… • You may noticed the display attached directly to the box that keeps the footage and that’s how they “monitor” it. • Those times are over • Monitoring can be done anywhere in a world with introduction of IP enabled DVR systems and Network DVR units • Some smaller setups can still use direct plug monitor, but mainly for spot and not total monitoring
Local monitors can run ‘remotely’ • Your monitoring center does not have to revolve around the central unit… • Making yoursystem veryflexible andwell adapted to your uniqueinfrastructure
Determining DVR location • DVR is the central unit where usually video footage is keep and from there the connection to everything else starts • When picking DVR location it is important • To pick a dry and well ventilated spot • A location that is in a “center of it all” (see next slide) • A spot where internet access can be delivered • Where only one wall is separating it from the outside • (but) the unit is well hidden out of the sight of the bad guys
Remember you can… • Thought DVRlike to ‘become’the center of itall, you arestill veryflexible onthe placementof the unit
Your monitoring locations • Establishing monitoring location is important • Must be a place where someone will always keep an eye on the video feeds • Where your dedicated security personnel have access to emergency services (such as 9-1-1) • (but) really, where-ever you like • Because of the new way we do surveillance your monitoring can be done across a cubicle or across the world • You may also have multiple monitoring locations • (or) even hire a monitoring firm
Mobile monitoring is a given • Perhaps not for everyone, but a another piece of mind is ability to login to your system via a Smartphone • If you have 3Gor 4G coverage(WiFi will do)you can tune inon your own phone or atablet PC
Remotely capable • It’s not just about monitoring the system from anywhere you like, you can also make a variety of changes to it while off-site • Change the date and time • Download footage to a remote computer • Login with your smart phone • Assign new users and disarm the old ones • Hypothetical situation: “Your home or business gets invaded by armed individual. You can provide the law enforcement with valuable intelligence from outside”
Selecting the right system for your needs… • We have covered all the different things that go into a modern day surveillance system, but now we need your help • As a provider we can not be expected to know your exact requirements nor budget in mind • We communicate with you the most while designing the system • We need to get your thoughts in order to get you the best system for what you want it to do • There’s no out-of-the-box solution for surveillance (at least there shouldn’t be)
Proximity • First thing we have to respect is the distances between • Your cameras and the central (DVR) unit • Your cameras and the objects you are trying to capture • Your central unit and your monitoring station • Then we can determine the total length of the cable needed • The type of the cameraswe will use
Clarity of the picture • Camera choices are in abundance • Generally the more money you spend the better the picture • (but) some of the cameras we have used are the other way around • Something to look for • TVL – that’s the resolution of the camera • Low Lux or Night Vision? • Type of the sensor camera uses
Camera Locations • The type of location the camera will be in is another thing to consider • Dark warehouses will immediately force you to consider Night Vision • Indoor cameras should always be night vision with 880nM IR illuminators • Busy areas with things flying around and extreme conditions will require vandal proof cameras • Outdoor cameras should always be DOME and weather proofed
Surveillance provider works for you • Many companies will claim to stand by their product and they do(until they get their money) • We stand by our product in and out of warranty • Given we don’t manufacture most of the equipment ourselves, we only buy top quality from industry leading manufacturers • We do all our installations and client/employee training ourselves • All of us are very knowledgeable in the equipment we deploy • Service is yet another thing we promise
Time constrains • In order to install and setup a complete surveillance system we may need a substantial amount of time to do so • On average a 16 camera WIRED surveillance system take about a week to deploy and about 48 hours to have it fully tuned in (roughly 9 to 10 days) • This might take longer in bigger infrastructures • We do our best to stay out of your way while installing any system and your interactions/ presence is not required until the final stages (training)
Costs • It is near impossible to determine exact cost of the total job without actually doing it • Every situation, client is different • One thing we make clearWE DO NOT MARK UP HARDWARE • You pay what we pay • As far as installation and setupwe have a couple of options • Flat rate • Hourly set rate
Buying Procedure • Our commitment to your 100% satisfaction starts here • As a small company we ask to follow this purchasing procedure: • Preliminary estimates (3-5 days) • Estimate acceptance • Contract is written and signed • Sequential Invoice (due right away) • Ordering of the equipment (takes 3-5 days) • Installation and setup (time varies) • Final invoice (due 2 weeks after final inspection)
Privacy • We respect your privacy • We will not reference your business • if prior consent is not given • We will not sell your information to other parties • Any information obtained during or after the job will be discarded or retained only to provide you with better experience • You may read more on our privacy policies at www.ssr2.com/privacy/
