Definitions • Intramurals - the phase of a schools Physical Education program that is geared to the skills & abilities of the entire student body and consists of voluntary participation in games, sports and other activities. • Must include a wide variety of activities so average students get a chance to use skills he/she was introduced to in class. • Interscholastic Program – program designed for students possessing athletic ability to excel in their particular sport. Emphasis on competition.
Intramural Objectives • 1. Health • Contributes to physical, social and emotional health. • Practical fitness, group participation, self confidence • 2. Skill • Opportunity for all to display and develop • 3. Social Development • Social contacts – co –ed, sportspersonship – team concept
