Agri-multifunctionality II Case Studies By Gaya Ducceschi CEJA 3rd Meeting Perugia, 5-6 May 2010
Current situation CEJA directly and systematically contacted the national organisations and farmers from The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Finland, Slovenia, Portugal, Greece, Germany, and Ireland. Only The Netherlands have sent questionnaires so far (three in total)!
WHY such a negative feedback? • Most frequent excuses: I need more time because I am very busy Farmers don’t have time to fill in questionnaires! I cannot find the farmer who filled in the 1st questionnaire!
CASES available • Netherlands: Eric Jan Van Tijen, 24, diversified his farm activities by producing and packing worm enriched compost, and using biomass heat generation. He started by implementing the worms to improve soil quality.
2. Netherlands: Jasper Spierings, 30, owns a farm store where he has sold cheese, produced ice-cream and meat since 2008. He inherited his farm, built in 1850, from his family.
3. Netherlands: Jaap Hop, 24 cultivates leek, endive and blanching celery that he personally packages and sells to supermarkets
Perspectives: We expect to receive more feedback shortly from Belgium (the Flemish organisation), Finland and Portugal
