senior project 2013-2014 Everything you wanted to know about the Senior Project and more…
why are you here? i’m not a senior yet. • To convince you to get approved early • To help streamline the process so that you have less to do during your very busy senior year • To answer any questions you have so that you have a successful project • We are good resources! Lots of students had to change their projects or submit LOTS of revisions because they didn’t follow directions or ask clarifying questions. • DON’T be that student!
i don’t want to think about school this summer. why should i start early? • The earlier you start, the less you have to do next year. • No penalty for getting approved over the summer and then not doing any hours. • You might start a project over the summer and hate it. You still have time to change your project.
you’ve convinced me to start early! now what? • Read the Senior Project Handbook • Go to the EHS website: http://www.lwsd.org/school/ehs/Pages/default.aspx • Select Academics → Senior Project → 2013-2014 Senior Project Information • Complete the Project Plan form • You must complete this AS IS, do NOT change format • Read and follow all directions • Follow directions on handbook pages 4-5 to submit your Project Plan. • Do NOT forget your 3-letter category code • Do NOT add anything else to your submission title • Remember: For summer approval, you only get ONE chance to revise.
i have no idea what to do! what next? • Think about the project presentations you have seen or heard about. • What seemed interesting to you? • What advice do current seniors have for you? • See page 3 of the Senior Project Handbook • Read “How to Choose a Project” • Look for cost-saving Senior Project ideas • Read the Senior Project Handbook for examples of what is allowed and not allowed
i’m ready to submit my work. now what? • Read pages 4-5 in the Senior Project Handbook for how to submit your Project Plan • Remember to use your STUDENT email. All communication will be via Turnitin.com or LWSD email. • Use the proper code: We won’t read it if it isn’t coded
what are my important dates? • May 28 • Deadline for submission of Project Plan for early approval (Turnitin.com) • June 3 • Comments & revision instructions posted on TII • June 3-7 • SPC available to help with revision • June 7 • Deadline for submission of revisions to existing Project Plans (Turnitin.com) • June 13 • Project approvals (or denials) are published via Turntin.com
where can i find this information once you leave? • Go to the EHS website: http://www.lwsd.org/school/ehs/Pages/default.aspx • Click on Academics → Senior Project → 2013-2014 Senior Project Information
oh no! i have questions that i didn’t have when you were here! • Read the Senior Project Handbook • Talk to a member of the Senior Project Approval Committee (see last slide for specific categories) • Ms. Bjorge (C121), Mrs. Cooke (D221), Ms. Egashira (E201), Mrs. Macchiarella (D225), Ms. Nasby (C236b) • Ask questions! • Trust us! We want as many as possible to start over the summer: it’s easier for us too!
