Development of the recognition process from 15/16… The recognition process has been a valuable way of capturing all of the work being done across the country and the different approaches being adopted Community Engagement function to more closely align activities: Dementia Friendly Communities Local Dementia Action Alliances Dementia Friends. Looking to improve and develop the next stage of the process Leading on from BSI Code of Practice (PAS 1865) for people wanting to create dementia-friendly communities - This will be published in early summer. Formal consultation period over the Summer
BSI Code of practice on DFCs • This code of practice has taken into account much of the work that has been done, particularly within local communities in England • It highlights resources of best practice that already exist but will not replace the established foundation criteria • The aim of the code of practice is to provide further guidance and structure for communities around what “dementia-friendly” looks like and what the key areas to engage with are in order to deliver on a dementia-friendly community • This will be published Summer 2015

Business Engagement DFC team are currently developing a dementia friendly business strategy, focusing on the following areas: Strengthening the business case & evidence base for becoming a dementia friendly business Designing criteria – i.e. what we are asking businesses to do Refining the application & assessment process for businesses Clearly defining the incentives for businesses to participate Ensuring the strategy supports local engagement from businesses by feeding into local activity
