How is the "image of God" realized in mankind? • In at least five ways: • rational, moral, volitional, relational, and creative expression.
Rational Likeness • we can think • we can be self-aware • we can have purpose • we are capable of analyzing and solving problems • we can communicate • with God, and • other people
Moral Likeness • we have an awareness of good and evil accompanied with a desire to do good
Volitional Likeness • we are free to make real decisions, not predetermined by fate
Relational Likeness • we have the capacity for love
Creative Expression • we have God-given abilities to fashion, out of raw materials, practical, beautiful, and (sadly) even harmful entities
Implications related to this concept that we are created in the image of God: • both men and women treat each other as partners in life
Implications related to this concept that we are created in the image of God: • to understand we have been created in the image of God conditions how we treat every other person
Implications related to this concept that we are created in the image of God: • we have been created with an ability to have a relationship with God
We were created in His image, but we have lost it, or it has been marred due to sin. • Now through faith in His Son, that image is being found in us again.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and the image of God will once again • be realized.
