  2. The CAPD Cycle • TPM is intended to create a self sustaining system that continuously improves upon itself. • At the heart of this concept of progressive sustainment, is the CAPD cycle: • Check • Act • Plan • Do www.uttana.com

  3. Check and Act • Check: • Examine and understand the current conditions. • Root out problems such as abnormalities, and defects. • Established baselines for the measuring future improvements. • Act: • Take immediate countermeasures • Restore proper conditions. www.uttana.com

  4. Plan • Analyze the root causes of the problems • Create an outline for changes that need to be made. • This planning includes: • New work standards. • Visual controls. • Alterations or new designs for equipment and products if necessary. www.uttana.com

  5. Do • implementing the plan created in the previous step. • Close attention needs to be paid to the results. This ultimately leads right back to the first step: Check www.uttana.com

  6. Focused Improvement Activities • CAPD should be a self perpetuating system when implemented correctly. • The CAPD cycle corresponds to the different steps of TPM focused improvement activities. www.uttana.com
