  1. ROCKS Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic

  2. Rocks have been around for a very long time……….

  3. Some rocks are four billion years old!

  4. Igneous rocks come out from deep in the earth as magma and cool down and harden.

  5. Obsidian is an igneous rock that came up from inside the earth and cooled off above ground.

  6. Granite is a rough igneous rock that cooled underground.

  7. Sedimentary rocks are formed when sand and other natural particles are squeezed together until they turn hard.

  8. Fossils are made from plants and animals that died thousands or millions of years ago and became buried in layers of sediment.

  9. Metamorphic rocks are made from other rocks. Heat and pressure deep inside the earth can change rocks from one kind to another.

  10. Marble is a metamorphic rock made from limestone that cooked inside the earth.
