The Researcher Development Statement • The Researcher Development Statement (RDS) is the strategic statement of the RDF: • endorsed by over 30 stakeholders including the Research Councils, QAA and the funding councils • evolution of the Research Councils’ Joint Skills Statement (JSS) • The RDS and RDF together provide: • strategic statement (RDS) • operational framework (RDF)

Employability lenses on Researcher Development Framework CBI view of employability • ‘Businesses want graduates who not only add value but who have the skills to help to transform their organisation in the face of continuous and rapid economic and technological change. All graduates - whatever their degree discipline - need to be equipped with employability skills.’ • ‘Employability covers a broad range of non-academic or softer skills and abilities which are of value in the workplace.
