Spinal Cord -medulla spinalis dr. sefa gültürk
The Spinal Cord dr. sefa gültürk
The spinal cord • Spinal nerves innervate specific regions of the body • Attach to spinal cord segments via two roots • posterior - sensory inputs • Dorsal root ganglion • anterior - motor outputs dr. sefa gültürk
Parts of a Reflex Arc • Receptor: sensitive to a specific change • Sensory neuron: transmits nerve impulse from the receptor to brain or spinal cord dr. sefa gültürk
Components of a reflex arc • Reflex arc has five components: • receptor • sensory neuron • integration centre • motor neuron • Effector • Somatic reflex – skeletal muscle • Autonomic reflex – smooth muscle, cardiac muscle or gland dr. sefa gültürk
Gerilme refleksi dr. sefa gültürk
Stretch-gerilme refleksi ve resiprok inhibisyon • Muscle spindle:stretch of muscle spindle generates sensory impulses • excitation of agonist • inhibition of antagonist dr. sefa gültürk
Stretch-gerilme refleksi ve resiprok inhibisyon dr. sefa gültürk
Stretch Reflex dr. sefa gültürk
Tendon reflex • Golgi tendon organs detect tension • generate sensory impulses • inhibition of agonist • excitation of antagonists • Can override stretch reflex dr. sefa gültürk
Stretch Reflex : Patellar Tendon Reflex : Monosynaptic Reflex dr. sefa gültürk
Flexor reflex • Flexor reflex • painful stimulus causes withdrawal of threatened body part • overrides other signals using same pathways dr. sefa gültürk
