1.5 MHz SonTekArgonaut-SL – Sample Volume, S, (Range-averaged cell) Nominal Max Range: 20 m* Min: 0.50 m Min Cell Size: 0.5 m *assumes adequate flow depth andbackscattering material
SonTek Argonaut-SL – Specifications Velocity: Features: Acoustic Frequencies: 3, 1.5, 0.5 MHz Beam angle: 25º Output Sample rate: 1Hz Internal Memory: 4 MB • Maximum: ± 6 m/s • Resolution: 0.1 cm/s • Accuracy: ± 1% of measured velocity or ± 0.5 cm/s (whichever is greater)
SonTek Argonaut-SL – SDI-12 Multi-cell Option Output for each cell SDI-12 Output Temperature Pressure Level Cell End Velocity X-comp Velocity Y-comp Velocity Magnitude Signal-to-Noise Ratio • Velocity X-component • Velocity Y-component • Velocity Magnitude • Signal-to-Noise Ratio • Each cell has a unique SDI address
Argonaut-SL Features – Upward-looking Stage Sensor • A pressure transducer is used with the acoustic transducer to improve accuracy. • Sets a stage “window” to eliminate spikes • Preliminary tests indicate possible accuracy of about 0.6 cm. • Used for: • Primary Stage • Redundant Stage • Effective flow depth (ice) • Standard on SLs
SonTek Argonaut-SL – Multi-cell Option • Up to 10 individual cells • Advantages • Very useful for QA of data – comparison of cell velocities, horizontal flow distribution • May be used if range-averaged cell is biased • Disadvantages • Smaller cells = increased velocity measurement uncertainty • More data to record (on-site) and store (in database or electronic archive)
SonTek Argonaut-SL – Options • 0.5 MHz (500 kHz) • Range: 1.5 – 120 m • Pressure, tilt/level sensor • 1.5 MHz (1,500 kHz) • Range: 0.2 – 20 m • Pressure, tilt/level sensor • PowerPing • 3.0 MHz (3,000 kHz) • Range: 0.1 - 5 m • PowerPing Photos courtesy of SonTek/YSI
