  4. 1. Register on POLKA Visit https://polka.pnn.police.uk/ to register with a PNN email address To join with a GSi email address, visit https://polka.pnn.police.uk/gsi for more information or

  5. 2. Set up your profile Setting up your profile enables you to tell others who you are, makes you more approachable and gives your contributions more meaning To set up or edit your profile, just go to ‘Edit Profile’

Join communities Join communities on POLKA to get access to discussions, documents and information of interest Click ‘All Communities’ to search all communities available on POLKA These communities will get you started… Learning to POLKA https://polka.pnn.police.uk/en/Communities/Home/?clubId=245 Knowledge Bank https://polka.pnn.police.uk/en/Communities/Home/?clubId=38

Find what you need Where can you search? • General search (in the navigation bar at the top of each page) • Within communities (blogs, discussions and documents) • My Contacts (for people) POLKA only searches open communities and private communities you’re a member of to ensure security of content If you can’t find what you need: • Join the relevant private community (you can’t see the content without joining first) • Ask the community facilitators/members for more information, perhaps the information hasn’t been shared yet

Build your Network Add contact’s to build your professional network and keep in touch with your colleagues How to find people • Go to My Contacts • Find individuals using a name or email address • Search whole organisations by using email domain’s (eg, @gmp, @norfolk) • Or, type a name into the general search

Get Involved Content on POLKA is user generated which means each member is responsible for contributing information and knowledge to POLKA, not just community facilitators and owners As a user, what can you contribute? • Start a discussion • Ask for advice or help finding something • Reply to a discussion • Give your opinion and support to other members • Add a document • What do you have that other people could learn from?
