  1. ERCEGI Summer InternshipArlington Revitalization CZ 2008 Intern Reflections

  2. Intern Reflections A whole new perspective of the world came to me due to this internship. The internship made me think about the environment around me in a more critical way. During this experience, I had to search for details that I usually would ignore. For example, when the other interns and I were traveling around the neighborhood, we had to search for day-cares in the area. Many of them were unnoticeable and required me to focus more on the area surrounding me. Also I had an opportunity to better my analyzing skills. This internship was a great experience and I would do it all over again. --Kiara Martin The internship was a great opportunity to get a feel of the real life's work field. I was able to learn not only more about GIS, but about the economy of Jacksonville, 32211, and how anything can effect a whole different area. I appreciated the chance to be able to work with GPS units and view the city in a different way. --Sarah Kim

  3. Intern Reflections As an intern working for ERCEGI Inc., I was exposed to many aspects of a job in the GIS field. I learned how to use a GPS unit and it was quite an experience to walk around and record points . I learned how to geocode to get points on a map rather than visiting the site to record its coordinates. I think that the experience I now posses will help me in the future if I choose to pursue a career in GIS. --Josh Aganon Things I learned on this internship was working with a GPS unit and applying that knowledge to an actual project. With that said, I most enjoyed taking the data we got from our units and geocoding it into a map. I had never done something like that before and to actually see the work we did put on a map brought everything together. --Megan Wampler

  4. Intern Reflections At first I was kind of unsure about this internship because I wasn't really sure it was something that I wanted to partake in. It was sometimes tough, like walking the hot pavement in the Arlington area and working those GPS units, but it was worth it now that I am up here presenting our work with my team. And now, I can say I've gained a great deal of experience in the work field, and I am very grateful to have had the chance to do so.  --Dana Thompson  I can personally state that, with the help of ERCEGI, I was able to obtain information about assisting others and the necessary procedures that need to be taken in order to create a map. Because of this internship, I learned to geocode and I was able to get an overall idea of what it takes to work in the field of GIS. I now have the knowledge to create a map, use a GPS, geocode and other various GIS related skills. --Rezhyar Akrayi

  5. Intern Reflections Through this great internship experience, I have gained a lot.  One of the things is that I have learned something new that I could see myself doing in ten years. This was a good experience for me getting to help people and their community because of the fact that I like helping people whenever possible. I really enjoyed working with ERCEGI. --John Garcia (not pictured)
