Trail of sadness. More than 100,000 Native American from the five tribes were forced to move. The Cherokee called this forced move “ Nunahi – Duna – Dlo – Hilu – I”. Cherokee died of starvation, exposure, or disease. 4,000 people died on the trail of tears.

  2. More than 100,000 Native American from the five tribes were forced to move. • The Cherokee called this forced move “ Nunahi– Duna– Dlo– Hilu– I”. • Cherokee died of starvation, exposure, or disease.

  3. 4,000 people died on the trail of tears. • In 1730, Cherokee leaders visited England. • In 1838 about 2,000 American troops moved in and began the forced removal.

  4. Cherokee refused to leave. • The Cherokee moved from Georgia to Oklahoma. • Andrew Jackson Ignored the Supreme Court.
