Podcasting • A form of communication - similar to a radio show. (Pre-recorded) • Local or global scale. • An alternative format of traditional forms. (written texts) • Role of Talk “Digital media is valuable and encourages children’s use of multiple ways of knowing about texts, such as podcasting.” (Crystal, 2001)
Advantages/Disadvantages • Not many opportunities for the visual learner. • Offend • Cross-curricular. • Accessible. • Engages all children. • Not dependent on written skills. • Offers a purpose for talk. • Offers a global dimension.

PNS Strands An Information Podcast - Year 4 • 1 - Prepare for factual research by reviewing what is known, what is needed, what is available and where one might search. • 2 - Make short notes, for example by abbreviating ideas, selecting key words, listing or in diagrammatic form
