  4. List of Adult Problems • Job problems • Marriage in trouble • Car / Plumbing / Appliance broken • Not enough money • Can’t lose weight • Kid problems • Illness • Persecuted because of your Christianity

  5. University Problems • My parents got a divorce • I have no boyfriend/ girlfriend • Dealing with my boyfriend/ girlfriend • I flunked a class • I am sick • I don’t know what I want to do with my life

  6. I don’t want any problems, Lord! • Not all problems are good, but good can come from problems. • Think Romans 8:28

Romans 5:3-53 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

  9. Romans 5:1-2Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

  12. in our sufferings, because we know that suffering • θλῖψις, εως, ἡ literally pressure, pressing together • Tribulations, problems • Not all suffering is good, but it can lead us to rejoice

  13. produces perseverance; • How much does it take for you to give up? • Steadfast endurance

  14. 4 perseverance, character; • Provenness • Suffering proves that our faith is genuine. • Hardened like steel

  15. and character, hope.

  16. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, • Psalm 25:1-3 To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul; 2 in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. 3 No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous without excuse.

  18. Problems Perseverance Character / Provenness Hope Hope Does Not Disappoint Us Because the love of God is poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit

  19. Problems Prove Your Faith is Genuine. • Can you thank God for your problems? • Do your problems teach you persistence and perseverance, thereby developing your character, giving you hope?

  20. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
