  1. 3GPP2 Special Workshop on 3GPP2 Future Directions and IMT-Advanced Initial Workshop Report Ed Tiedemann (Qualcomm) Chair Clif Barber (KDDI) Secretary 3gpp2workshop@3gpp2.org 16 May 2007 New Otani Hotel Osaka, Japan

  2. Workshop Action • E-mail dated 19 March 2008 regarding Special Workshop on 3GPP2 Future Directions and IMT-Advanced from 3GPP2 SC Chair, Wan Yi : 3GPP2 Participants: At the recent 3GPP2 Steering Committee (SC) in Xiamen, we decided to hold a special SC level workshop.  The workshop will address: • What is the future activity of 3GPP2 including enhancing current systems? • How will 3GPP2 address and work on IMT-Advanced? The Workshop will be held on Friday, May 16 in conjunction with the Osaka super-meeting.  The Workshop will start at 10:00 on Friday morning and will last throughout the day.  All TSG meetings are to have adjourned in time for the workshop. I view this workshop as an important step for 3GPP2.  As a result of this workshop, I would like 3GPP2 to develop a tentative work plan that extends out for several years and which meets the interests of our subscribers, operators, and vendors. All 3GPP2 individual members and MRPs are encouraged to submit contributions and attend this Workshop.  Ed Tiedemann has graciously agreed to chair this Workshop.  The Workshop Chair will soon provide further details. I look forward to your inputs and vision at this important Workshop. Wan Yi Chair, 3GPP2 Steering Committee Director Radio and Mobile Communication Department CATR, MII, China
