  4. applications • Liquids • Vapours • Gases • Slurries • Corrosive substances The most common application/example of a globe valve is a standard water tap!

  5. Advantages • Efficient throttling – this reduces turbulence in the pipe line, thus giving a smother more controlled flow. • Accurate flow control – it would be possible to work out how many radians the wheel would need to be turned to exert any flow rate.

  6. Disadvantages • There is high pressure drop through the valve • More expensive than other valve types, due to complexity and number of components
