  5. Ease of use! • Blogging can be intimidating (length of blog posts, frequency, etc.) • 140-character posts are easy cheesy • Most popular microblogging site is? Microblogging Mark Bieganski

  6. In just three years since its 2006 launch, Twitter has grown to more than 44.5 million users • Sites like Facebook and Twitter are good examples of “ambient intimacy” • Explanation • But what do I microblog? Twitter Mark Bieganski

DM • Direct message, allows you to privately message a user • @ reply • @ symbol precedes a Twitter ID and allows you to reply, or message a person in public • Tweet • Sending a message on Twitter • RT • Retweet: Reposting another person’s link • Hashtag • A label for a trending topic Twitter lingo Mark Bieganski

  13. Post: Remember the limit • Read: Allows you to read in real-time the tweets of users you’re following • Reply: Reply to someone • Direct message: Direct message a person’s name Four main Twitter uses Mark Bieganski
