Share your goals and ideas with your members. Let them know your vision and where you see the chapter going. • Get to know the skills/likes/dislikes of everyone in your chapter. • Challenge members to step out of their comfort zones and serve on committees or in offices that they have not served before.
For each project or endeavor, let every member have ownership and responsibility so they will be involved and active. • Put vocal people in charge of something! • Teamwork activities! • Delegatesome of the duties!
Plan as a team! • Plan meetings and programs so that as many people are involved as possible. • Plan your biennium topics with your members in mind. • Plan and design your programs with as much input from everyone as possible.
Plan programs of interest • Relevant • Time well spent • Do as much ahead of time and stick to an agenda • Use timesaving devices in your meeting • Add some good plain FUN in your meetings!
Newsletters ~ Suggested topics to include: • Teaching tips • Chapter, state and international news • Quotes from intelligent women • Chapter concerns for those who need prayer and cheer
Information about the state/area committees and projects • Lone Star news highlights • Society protocol • DKG website tidbits-state and international • DKG trivia
Review newsletter at each meeting • Use DKG trivia/history in meetings and newsletter • Have your tech people work out web page and e-mails for reminders, newsletters. “Snail mail” and phone trees work well for the non tech members More on Communication/Newsletters
Have a yearly calendar-this helps members know what they are doing when (hostess; inspiration; etc) • Chapter project details and updates • Share ideas and info at each meeting • Listen to others-everyone has a story • Contact members who missed meetings-knowing they’re missed will encourage them to be at the next meeting
Each meeting should involve some recognition of accomplishments: • Sister Rose/Shining Star • Good News/Sharing • Guessing games about members • Highlight members in newsletters monthly
Achievement Recognition at each meeting • Birthdays • Accolades for members at each meeting • Perfect Attendance • Photos of meetings, projects or activities
Delegate • Make a “Year at a Glance” –include all member duties • Post secretary and treasurer’s reports in newsletters and/or copies at meetings
Work ahead-plan, plan, plan • Revisit plans often • Set and follow agenda • Many updates can be made in the newsletter of on web site
