If 90% of your class period can make a 90 or above on the next notebook check, we WILL NOT have a mandatory notebook check in the 6th six weeks. • If that occurs, you may turn in your notebook during the 6th weeks for an extra exam grade. • If that does not occur, you may have multiple notebook checks during the 6th six weeks.

  3. Extra Credit Procedures 15 total newspaper articles 5 from 3 different continents each article dealing with a different country Each individual article must be attached to its information page. You will turn in 15 articles and 15 information pages.

  5. 6th Six Weeks Extra Credit • Continent—South America • Country—Venezuela • Article name-- Tight win for Chavez's heir spells uncertainty for Venezuela • Newspaper—USA Today • Date published—April 15, 2013 • Writer-- Andrew Cawthorne and Brian Ellsworth • Short summary– Late socialist leader Hugo Chavez's chosen successor Nicolas Maduro won Venezuela's presidential election by a whisker but now faces opposition protests plus a host of economic and political challenges in the OPEC nation. The 50-year-old former bus driver, whom Chavez named as his preferred heir before dying from cancer, edged out opposition challenger Henrique Capriles with 50.7 percent of the votes in Sunday's election, according to election board returns. Capriles took 49.1 percent, a difference of just 235,000 ballots.

  6. Extra Credit Procedures Articles must come from a published newspaper. NO ARTICLES FROM THE INTERNET OR MAGAZINES WILL BE ACCEPTED. If you don’t have access to a newspaper at home, the school library subscribes to the Abilene Reporter News and USA Today. Multiple copies are available for you to use. You just need to ask one of the librarians. Articles should come from newspapers published in April or May 2013.

Extra Credit Procedures Due before your period’s tardy bell on Friday, May 17 for 5 pointsadded to your final 6thsix weeks average It must be given to me before the tardy bell—not turned in to the tray. The assignment may be either hand written or typed. But regardless of how it is done,information labels must be provided. No labels, no credit.

  8. Extra Credit Procedures Extra credit may be turned in at any time before the due date for its current value. If you want to check with me before turning it in to make sure you’ve done it correctly, please do. Those that complete the 6th six weeks extra credit assignment WILL NOT have a notebook check this six weeks. Those that do not complete the 6th six weeks extra credit assignment will turn in your notebook on Friday, May 17 for a notebook grade.
