  2. Eggnog History Has been around since before the 16th century but its thought to have been called by a different name, posset Posset- is the term you would see used. And that is a warming concoction of hot milk mixed with hot beer, sugar and spices. Mostly likely eggnog originated in England as posset. Eggnog didn’t show up in print until the 18th century.

  3. What is Eggnog? • A drink made from a mixture of eggs, cream and flavorings often with alcohol added. • It was considered a holiday drink then, just like we see it today around the holidays time.

  4. Eggnog • In 1796 eggnog was descried as a rich and creamy dessert drink which was big in the south. • In 1839 American cookbooks started to include recipes for cold eggnog. Adding brandy, rum or sprinkling it with nutmeg.

  5. Ingredients • Milk • Sugar • Raw Eggs • Spices– normally nutmeg • Alcohol like brandy or rum can also be added.
