labour Labor – a person who is working for or not for remuneration is obviously known as labor. Or A person who is selling is physical effort to others for remuneration is also known as labor,
Plantation • Plantation means any land used or intended to be used for • Growing tea • Coffee • Rubber • And any other plant
Applicability • It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir. • admeasures 25 acres land or more • Whereon 30 or more persons are employed
Registration of plantations • Sec.3(B) • within a period of sixty days of the coming into existence of such plantation, make an application to the registering officer .for the registration of such plantation
Power to make rules • The state government is the appropriate authority to make • Any Rules • Any changes • Issuing orders
Chief inspector and inspectors • The State Government may appoint for the State duly qualified person to be chief inspector of plantations
Powers and functions of inspectors • Make such examination and inquiry whether the act implemented or not • inspect any plantation or part whether its carrying out the objects of this Act • Examine the crops grown in any plantation • any worker employed therein • register or other document maintained in pursuance of this Act

HOURS AND LIMITATION OF EMPLOYMENT Weekly hours • Not more than 9 hours on any day • Not more than 54 hours in any week Weekly Holidays Provide for a day of rest, in every period of seven days which shall be allowed to all workers • Daily intervals for rest an interval for rest for at least half an hour
LEAVE WITH WAGES • If an adult, one day for every twenty days of work performed by, him • If a young person, one day for every fifteen days of work performed by him
Sickness and maternity benefits (a) In the case of sickness certified by a qualified medical practitioner, sickness allowance, and (b) If a woman, in the case of confinement or expected confinement, maternity allowance,
Welfare officers (1)In every plantation wherein three hundred or more workers are ordinarily employed the employer shall employ such number of welfare officers as may be prescribed. (2)The State Government may prescribe the duties, qualifications and conditions of service of officers employed under sub-section
