The Fall • Satan lies 3xs: • Denies what God says • Insinuates that God is Jealous • Tells Eve that she will be a god • Humanity basically good –only chose evil when it looks good
The Fall • 3 Components of Sin: • Perceived good • Pleasure • Desirable
The Fall • An Apple? • “Malum” –Latin for Evil • “Malum” –Latin for Apple
Eve Offers Fruit to Adam • Eve = best of good/ worst of bad • Not totally to blame • Adam has free will • Adam failed Eve
What was the sin? • Pride –They thought that they deserved to be gods • Lack of Trust (in God) • Wanted to write their own rules
God “Comes Back” • Cover themselves (vulnerable) • Asked by God: Who, Where, Why?
God “Comes Back” • God: “Where are You?” • Adam: “Hiding because I am naked.”
God “Comes Back” • God: “Who told you were naked? Did you eat from the Tree of Wisdom?” • Adam: “The woman gave me fruit from the tree –it was the woman you put me with.”

Were Adam and Eve Saved? According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church Before the Resurrection, Abraham, Noah, Moses, Adam and Eve, and all the righteous were in the Limbo of the Fathers (limbuspatrum) where they remained until "in his human soul united to his divine person, the dead Christ went down to the realm of the dead. He opened heaven’s gates for the just who had gone before him (CCC 637).
